Straight Street Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with substance use disorder and co-occurring life-controlling issues live healthy and productive lives through structured and supportive recovery housing which follow the social model of recovery.
Founded by someone in long-term recovery, the program offers leadership that understands addiction and the plight of returning citizens. We believe that recovery housing along with recovery support services can give people the recovery capital they need to lead a victorious life.
Based in the North Springfield, Missouri, Straight Street caters to men and women in Southwest Missouri, particularly those coming out of prison and re-entering society.
The Straight Street recovery homes are accredited by the National Alliance of Recovery Residences and the Department of Mental Health. We are a Medically Assisted Treatment friendly organization with an MOU with Burrell Behavioral Health to provide MAT to individuals in our program.
Straight Street partners with the North Side Recovery Community Center to offer a range of programs including parenting, relapse prevention, peer-support meetings, recovery coaching, recovery coaching, job training and pro-social activities.
We also provide Narcan alongside Narcan training to prevent overdoses. In 2021 we provided Recovery Housing for 229 individuals.
What is recovery housing?
Recovery houses are safe and healthy residential environments in which skills vital for sustaining recovery are learned and practiced in a home-like settings.
We believe that recovery housing should foster the development of a sense of community where individuals improve their physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being. Straight Street offers a safe place for individuals to create a foundation for a lifelong commitment to recovery from addiction. Our homes are peer led and structured with a specific set of community standards designed by leaders who have lived experience who are now in long term recovery.
